York College Graduation Ceremony
York College higher education students attended their graduation ceremony at York Minster on 17th September 2015.
Students graduated in a range of subjects including Media Make-up and Hair Design for TV Film and Theatre, Applied Computing, Fashion Design, Sports Therapy, Graphic Design and 3D Contemporary Crafts.
Canon David Butterfield from York Minster welcomed graduates and guests and an opening address was given by College Principal Dr Alison Birkinshaw, followed by a keynote speech by Jane Lady Gibson, the Chair of Make It York. The Vote of Thanks was given by Andrea Shepherd, Assistant Principal for Higher Education, International, Adult and Development at York College.
This year York College higher education students achieved excellent results with 69 per cent of students graduating from BA programmes achieving either a First Class or 2:1 Degree classification and 70 per cent of Foundation Degree graduates achieving a merit or distinction grade.
Andrea Shepherd, Assistant Principal for Higher Education at York College said: “It is fantastic to see our students graduating in York Minster, celebrating their achievements with family and friends who have supported them throughout their studies. I congratulate them all and wish them success in their chosen careers.
