York College Fashion Show 2016
Students studying Fashion at York College have presented their creations on the catwalk at York Racecourse as a finale to their BA (Hons) Fashion Design & Production and Extended Diploma in Fashion & Clothing courses.
The Show featured group collections from all fashion courses:
• Extended Diploma in Fashion and Clothing (Year 1): St Leonard’s Hospice recycling project for the Great Yorkshire Show catwalk
• Extended Diploma in Fashion and Clothing (Year 2): Yorkshire Wildlife Park inspirations
• BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Production (Year 1): Leather project inspired and sponsored by the Cordwainers of York
• BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Production (Year 2): Identity project sponsored by the Yorkshire Museums Trust
Individual collections by final year BA (Hons) students included inspirations from themes such as the American Dream, Japanese Geisha, Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Modern Sexism, Human Activity on the Environment and Civil Unrest.
Marie Neal-Smith, Fashion tutor at York College comments:
“Collections have been inspired by broad ranging themes this year, many of them carrying messages which reflect the happenings in our society. Fabrics and silhouettes are diverse, creative and often unconventional in the combinations they are presented in. It promises to be an exciting 2016 show!”
