Art Design andCreative Industry Events

If you're thinking about a career in Art, Design or Creative Industries, there are a number Student Showcases held across York, aimed at highlighting the various skills and expertise students have developed through studying different courses.  

The University of York

The Department of Music's performances by both professional and University ensembles, soloists, staff and students are the largest and most varied programme of concerts in the region. Click here for the latest information.

The Department of Electronics features innovative programmes in both Media and Music Technology. The work of Music Technology students  being displayed in an annual February concert at the National Centre for Early Music in York city centre. Click here to find out more.

The new Department of Theatre, Film and Television hosts events ranging from classical Roman dramas to contemporary comedies and film screeings of the best student's work. Click here

For information about 'The Best of Higher Education Creative Show' exhibiting art, design and crafts from BA, HND and HNC programmes to be held 17th - 20th June, 2008 click here.

A Fashion Show will be held 25th June 2008 at the National Railway Museum, with two performances at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. This is a pre-book event. Please call 01904 770281 or click here for information.

York St John University

Perform highlights the work of graduates from Music, Theatre and Dance in various venues over a week, click here. Perform 2008 is taking place from the 19th - 22nd May.

The Art and Design Graduate Show displays work in the York St John Centre of Excellence exhibition space. 

Film and TV Screeningsof graduate work are shown to an invited audience at York City Screen along with public viewings included as part of the Art and Design Show. For more information on any of these events contact 01904 876433.

Events

The Enterprise Shows take place every year providing you with the opportunity to get professional advice about starting and developing your own business. This year's show will take place in the Museum Gardens, York, on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th May, 2008. For more information about the Enterprise Shows click here.

The Learning Festival is an annual event primarily aimed at adults promoting learning opportunities in York and inspiring people to learn something new.

Many types of learning opportunities are promoted from formal to informal and short taster courses to studying a full degree. There are also a mass of resources available providing information, advice and guidance for learning opportunities across the City.
