Students at Upper Wharfedale School find out more about Higher Education
The Higher York Network for Collaborative Outreach (HYNCO) began a programme of activities with Upper Wharfedale School on Wednesday 6 July, to help their students think about higher education and their future.
Representatives from each of Higher York’s partner universities and colleges travelled to the school to run a range of activities, which included a chance to talk to current higher education students about their experiences. “Chloe, the student, made it sound like a brilliant experience; I want to go now” said Sophie, a student at Upper Wharfedale.
"The diverse range of workshops allowed our students to explore their pre-conceptions about post-18 education and helped many to re-think their future opportunities. All of the workshops were engaging and students have embraced the first challenge about a famous graduate really enthusiastically" said Sally Sumner, Associate Headteacher.
Higher York and its partners will continue to work with schools in York, North Yorkshire and parts of East Riding. For schools interested in activities provided by the Higher York NCO, visit www.higheryork.org/schools or telephone 01904 876350.
