STEM Inspirations at Yorkshire Air Museum
‘Inspirations’ is an annual showcase event dedicated to celebrating young people’s achievements in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) as well as innovation and enterprise. This year, the event was held at the Yorkshire Air Museum and was attended by several schools from across the region. The event showcased the work of talented students’ projects, ideas and prototypes based around the STEM subjects.
The event aimed at promoting and celebrating STEM studies and related careers was attended by Higher York and several of its partners to show students the possibilities of higher education in the STEM subjects and more. Students were engaged with various information stands that included information on sports science, horticulture, and physics amongst others.
‘It was great to see so many gifted students presenting their work and talking to us about the possibilities of higher education.’ said Colin Rainey, Higher York Network for Collaborate Outreach Project Manager. ‘It was an excellent opportunity to speak with those who may just be considering what to do for their future career, whether that will be in a STEM-based subject or something else.’
Higher York and its partners will continue to work with schools in York, North Yorkshire and parts of East Riding. For schools interested in activities provided by Higher York NCO, visit www.higheryork.org/schools or telephone 01904 876350
