HIGHER YORK ARCHAEOLOGY, HERITAGE & TOURISM ACTIVITY WEEK
Participants enjoyed an excellent activity week

Participants enjoyed an excellent activity week facilitated by the Higher York partnership.

Higher York members recently delivered an activity week offering participants a taste of what it’s like to study or work in the archaeology, heritage and tourism sector.

Participants of all ages and diverse backgrounds attended lectures at the University of York’s King’s Manor; an all-day dig at the new University of York campus site at Heslington East; sessions at the York Archaeological Trust’s Hungate site and laboratories; the City of York Council’s archive department; Yorkshire Museum and York St John University.

Feedback from participants included “I found targeting focus of interest most helpful”; “it has further focussed me to want to study further and secure a job within the sector”; “this week has confirmed the level of commitment higher education will entail”; “ confirmed my decision to study archaeology full-time at the University of York”
