Internship: Higher York - Chloë Beddoe
Chloë Beddoe, a York St John University graduate, joined the Higher York team as a graduate intern over summer 2016, helping with numerous projects and working with organisations closely linked to the partnership.
Chloë worked with Make It York on a new project to create a list of a 100 things to do before students graduate in York. She initially helped by researching the most popular things to do whilst in York, and passed these ideas on to the team at Make It York. To assist further with the research, Chloë constructed a survey to gain students’ feedback on York and what they would recommend to people who were considering studying here at University/College.
Chloë also helped the Events Team at York St John University with the preparations for both the York St John 175th Staff Celebration and the York Stakeholder VIP dinner. This involved helping with the set-up of the venues and the preparation beforehand such as cross-checking the lists of people attending the Staff Celebration and the VIP Stakeholder dinners, ensuring we had the right amount of food and drink vouchers for the staff celebration, and other behind-the-scenes activities to help the events run smoothly.
Chloë helped with updating the information on the Higher York website, adding news and events items, researching information on the school wards and postcodes, and putting the information into databases.
Chloë said, “Working with Higher York has been a great opportunity for me, as it has enhanced my IT skills and enabled me to work independently and manage my own projects, but also with the benefit of support from the team. The team were also a huge help with my interviews, giving me plenty of useful advice and tips! I hope to be able to put these to good use in future job interviews.”
