University of York
The University of York Chemistry Conference will take place on Friday 6 July 2012 from 10am until 4pm. It is aimed at Year 12 students who are interested in taking a degree in chemistry. Students will take part in various sessions led by our chemistry teaching staff, including a tailored chemistry lecture, a molecular model building workshop, a session focusing on spectroscopy (including a tour of mass spectrometry, NMR and infrared spectroscopy facilities), a short practical activity in one of the chemistry labs, and a session on personal statement writing targeted towards chemistry.
Students will also attend a short session providing them with detailed information on how to choose the right chemistry course and showing career opportunities for chemistry graduates. Students will mix with current University of York students and staff from our Department of Chemistry, and will have plenty of time to ask questions.
Booking is essential and will open in May 2012 at http://www.york.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/outreach/tasters/
