Whilst living in York you are eligible to vote in the local elections – register to vote.

Residents' Associations

Residents' Associations play an important role in building local communities, contributing to our policies and shaping the delivery of services to tenants in York. The issues tackled vary, and focus on housing concerns and repairs, to community issues, crime, and environmental issues. There are many residents associations across the city, each with a geographically defined area.

Volunteering

York is renowned as a volunteering city. York offers a broad range of volunteering opportunities for you to get involved. From looking after green areas to mentoring; people of all ages and backgrounds can volunteer in the city.

Collection dates vary from place to place. To find out when your collection dates are use the Council's dedicated search tool. As a reminder, you are requested to ensure your bins are out for collection prior to 7:00pm the evening before the collection date.
