Askham Bryan Riding Club collaboration launched

ABC riding clubAskham Bryan College has just announced a new collaboration between the College and members from the local equestrian community with the founding of an Askham Bryan Riding Club.

Affiliated with the British Riding Club, the College’s new Riding Club will enable students to experience the benefits of being part of a professional riding club and in turn to allow members from the local community to have access to a wide variety of training facilities and events that the college has to offer.

The Riding Club will be utilising the fantastic facilities at Askham Bryan College, including the 70m x30m indoor school with gallery and the 60m x 25m outdoors school. The Club will run competitions and camps which focus on both flatwork and jumping. With the emphasis placed on having fun there will be options to join in with drill riding sessions and TREC GB training sessions. There will also be the opportunity for members to take part in a variety of activities that they may not have tried before such as dressage to music, western riding and driving.

Kay Lamb, Equine Facilities Director commented; “We are delighted to announce our new collaboration between the College and members of the local equestrian community with the establishment of an Askham Bryan Riding Club. We are very fortunate to benefit from the support of the local equestrian community who through partnership will allow us to provide new and exciting opportunities for our students to get involved in.”

The Club will help those wanting to improve rider position and balance in addition to running sessions on personal fitness training which will be aimed at the rider to help improve stamina, suppleness, posture and core strength. The Riding Club is already on track to success with many great coaches lined up to run training at all levels and abilities including regulars Fred Bergendorff, Liz Fellows and Ian Brown.

The Chair of Askham Bryan Riding Club said; “This is a great opportunity for both the students at the college and members from the local community to become part of a British Riding Clubs affiliated club. We will be offering our members a variety of training and events with the emphasis being on fun. We look forward to welcoming all of our new members.”
